Upon learning of the Prime Evil’s constant infatuation with humanity’s growth and affairs in Sanctuary, this did not come good with the Lesser Evils of Hell, as we learn in Chapter Five today.

After the failed attempt of using the city of Ureh as the staging ground for the demonic armies of Hell to invade Sanctuary, Diablo sought other ways to achieve his goal of subverting humanity into allying themselves with Hell to finally obtain victory against Heaven in the Eternal Conflict.

DIABLO, LORD OF TERROR: CHAPTER FIVE

For a time after the Sin War, the Prime Evils of Hell – Mephisto, Baal and Diablo – never stopped gazing into the affairs of mankind in Sanctuary, each plotting their own schemes to finally subjugate humanity into becoming mighty pawns for their new armies of Hell.

This did not sit well with the Lesser Evils as they deem their elder brethren to be unfit to lead the Burning Hells anymore, favouring meek and fragile humans instead of the ferocity and worthiness of those from the demonic realms.

Eventually, this unease led to a revolt from the Lesser Evils, resulting in the banishment of the Prime Evils into Sanctuary, referred to as the Dark Exile.

However, this was the exact scheme of the Prime Evils in order to ‘legitimately’ enter Sanctuary without the obstruction and interference of the High Heavens, laying the foundation for them to freely corrupt and taint the world as they see fit.

Ultimately, their desire was to corrupt the Worldstone itself, letting them restore the original powers of the Nephalem into humans before herding them into becoming soldiers of their new army.

The archangel Tyrael finally took notice of this and immediately gathered a group of supreme mages and individuals to form the Horadrim, tasked with subduing and capturing all Prime Evils inside three (3) separate Soulstones due to their demonic prowess essentially making them immortal to death.

Throughout the years, Baal and Diablo had travelled across the Twin Seas to the scorching deserts of Aranoch.

After a while, Diablo left to follow his own plans of carnage, proceeding towards Khanduras whole laying siege and chaos to all that along his path.

Finally, the Horadrim was able to pursue Diablo and fought against masses of his minions and horrific legions.

The Horadrim came out victorious and managed to capture Diablo inside a Soulstone, hidden and guarded under the labyrinthine cave systems near River Talsande.

Entrusted by Tyrael to never allow the Lord of Terror to roam free again, the Horadrim built a monastery and catacombs within the caves to allow proper monitoring of Diablo’s Soulstone throughout the subsequent years.

But this was not the end of Diablo, and Chapter Six will cover all the events that would unsurprisingly lead to Diablo’s emergence once more.
